Summer in Iceland
Summer is one of the best seasons to visit Iceland. It is also the most popular season with many tourists and higher prices because the long days and the festivals held everywhere around the country make Iceland a great destination. Although the weather is always quite unpredictable, temperatures are nicer than any other time of the year, between 7° and 15°C, and the Midnight Sun which never really sets makes the days last forever. When the sun slowly does start setting from the end of June, it paints the Icelandic summer skies with some of the most beautiful colors you will ever see.
A lot of tours are available in the summertime and you will be able to experience Icelandic nature at its best. If you are wondering what the best summer tours to do in Iceland are, here are a few suggestions.
Snaefellsnes penisula cliffs
Summer in Iceland
My absolute number one place in Iceland is Snæfellsnes, often referred to as “Iceland in a nutshell” because in this small peninsula you can see all the wonders Iceland has to offer and the scenery on a nice summer day is just amazing. With our Snæfellsnes Peninsula Tour you will get to see volcanoes, lava fields, a glacier and the spectacular Kirkjufell.
One of the places I like the most on Snæfellsnes is the very small village of Arnarstapi with its beautiful cliffs full of birds‘ nests in the summer. I love to just stare at the ocean while all you can hear is the birds, the wind howling and the roar of the waves breaking against the cliffs
Summer is the perfect season to explore the highlands. Þórsmörk is another one of my favorite places in Iceland, perfect for hikes in unspoiled nature. You can join our Thorsmork by Icelandic Super Jeep Tour and explore this amazing place after you drive through glacier tongues and river streams. It is a great adventure you should not miss!
Also, you cannot miss the chance to see Iceland‘s most iconic birds, the puffins! These cute little creatures have conquered the hearts of many and they fly over to Iceland in April to stay until the end of September. You can sometimes see them on the cliffs but our Puffin Tour will take you to the islands where they nest and you will get to meet them from real close, along with other birds.
A Whale Watching tour is also recommended in the summertime: whales are amazing animals and it is a great experience to be able to see them in their environment and learn about them from one of our expert guides.
So why wait any longer? Book your ticket to Iceland, come enjoy the Midnight Sun and the beautiful Icelandic summer with our Iceland Premium Tours!
