Discover some of Iceland's most popular and beautiful attractions along the south coast all the way to the spectacular Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon on this luxury day-tour from Reykjavik. Aboard our modified 4X4 jeep, we will explore beautiful waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers, volcanoes, and learn about Iceland's nature, history and culture as we drive along the spectacular south coast of Iceland in all luxury and comfort.
On our Private Jökulsárlon Glacier Lagoon day tour from Reykjavik, we visit the mesmerizing Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, two of Iceland's most famous and beautiful waterfall that will fascinate for their unique settings.
The tour then continues to Sólheimajökull, a fascinating glacier located between two of Iceland's better-known volcanoes, Katla and Eyjafjallajökull. Sólheimajökull is an incredible glacier, with its dramatic ice formations and the lines of black volcanic ash trapped in its centuries-old ice. Like many glaciers in Iceland and around the world, Sólheimajökullis sadly shrinking rapidly, as reflected in the glacier lagoon that can be found at its base. Sólheimajökull is easily accessible through an easy path that takes you to a viewpoint and then up to the glacier ridge itself.
We continue our private Jökulsárlon Glacier Lagoon day tour to the charming fishing village of Vik í Mýrdal, with its black beaches and sea stacks.
Past Vík, we drive along the Ring Road, where you can see beautiful lava fields and amazing scenery to get to Skaftafell and Vatnajökull National Parks, where you can admire amazing glacier tongues from up close.
We stop at Fjallsárlón, a beautiful glacier lagoon that is smaller and less crowded than the most famous Jökulsárlón but is just as beautiful.
Our final destination is the spectacular Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon with its floating icebergs and the Diamond Beach. Here you have time to explore the area and you have the option to add an amphibian or zodiac boat ride on the Glacier Lagoon to get closer to the icebergs (note that the boat tour is not included and must be booked in advance. We cannot guarantee availability if the tour is booked too late).
Alternatively, it is possible to take a boat tour on the less crowded Fjallsárlón lagoon instead, which we recommend. Being less crowded, Fjallsárlón is usually much quieter and can give you a better feeling of the lagoon. Please let us know at the time of booking if you would like to add this option to the tour.
On this private Jökulsárlón day tour, you have plenty of time to enjoy each site, tops for lunch and dinner will be made, as well as extra comfort stops, to make sure your experience is as wonderful and luxurious as possible. According to the weather and the timing, we might make extra stops to see waterfalls, glacier tongues, and canyons.
The tour ends back at your selected drop-off location in Reykjavik. If you take the tour in the winter (September-March) you might be lucky and get a glimpse of the Northern Lights on the way back to Reykjavik, weather permitting.
